Recent diesel shortages have left fishing boats stranded at Mooloolaba Wharf, posing significant challenges to local businesses and threatening thousands of jobs.
The inability to access fuel has halted fishing operations, highlighting vulnerabilities in Australia's fuel supply chain.

Federal Member for Fisher, Andrew Wallace, expressed concern over the situation, noting that approximately 50 local businesses rely on fishing activities from Mooloolaba Wharf. Without access to diesel, these businesses cannot operate, export their products, or sustain employment.

The Queensland Seafood Industry Association has called for an emergency relief subsidy for primary producers, emphasizing that prolonged fuel shortages and rising costs could lead to business closures and increased consumer prices.

This crisis underscores the need for a robust and reliable fuel supply chain to support Australia's marine industries. Ensuring consistent fuel availability is crucial for the sustainability of local fisheries and the broader marine economy.
